This Tam Chuc Aquathlon race marked the second race that I have competed in, with Aqua Warriors being the first. It was a very short distance: 750m swim and 5km run, not my expertise. However, I went in and tried my best, I believe so.
The race started exactly how races started for competitive swimming, swimmers standing in a line with a guy leading the line onto the jumping blocks. I charged right up ahead, pushing my pace and heart rate up once I entered the race. However, this was a mistake of mine, since it made me tired very early into the race. Even though I got 3rd place in swimming, the run was not easy at all.
My transition was also not that perfeect, with me taking quite a little while to put my shoes on and transition onto the road when my body was not ready at all. Right from the start, my run started while my heart was in Zone 5. For the next 30 minutes, I ran with my heartrate completely in either zone 4 or zone 5. In addition to the heart rate, everything made it harder: the wind, the part of skin that hurt for me not chafing, and my soaked shoes that felt like weights.
However, I finisehd 11th place overall. Even though it was not high placement, I felt like it was a very fun race since it was very short, and I saw some familiar faces there.
